Here are a
few photos of our most recent adventures. I
have written short explanations about each of them but Jessica will be writing a
longer blog
entry soon.
Jessica and Tara exploring at Charyn Canyon. Charyn Canyon is supposedly the second largest canyon in the world. I personally think it is second by a long ways because it wasn't really that big.
We had an International Brunch at the school last weekend. Each family was supposed to bring a dish from their country of origin. There were probably fifty different countries represented. This is the U.S. table. It had a bucnh of chili, cookies, brownies and a huge pile of good ol' PB & J sandwiches.
There were probably 300 people that showed up for the event. It was one of the best eathing experiences of my life. I hit up at least 12 different countries. The faves were from India, Lebanon and South Korea.
The Italian table was popular.
Everyone laid around and tried not to fall asleep after stuffing themselves.

In the bottom of the canyon there was this beautiful glacial river. Needless to say, it was a bit cold for swimming.
We began to explore this yurt but then everyone bailed because we were getting some unfriendly stares from some people. Perhaps, the yurts inhabitants. Oooops.
We did some hardcore rock climbing as well.
These are the mountains out of our window on a clear day. It had just rained so the air was really clear.
These are the mountains on a not so clear day. Sometimes they disappear completely behind the haze. The pollution here sucks.
Matt at Kok-Tobe. It is a little amusement area that overlooks the city.
Jessica and the Beattles. For some reason they have a fascination with western pop icons. These were nice statues of the Beattle. We also saw a photo of Steven Seagal during his visit to Kok-Tobe. Pretty exciting stuff.

We're wondering what you've done since this entry. I know you're probably really busy and life might seem "same ol, same ol" but it's not to us! Remember how normal TZ seemed? Can't wait to hear more! -Boltons
